The value of “teams” is possibly
one of the most deeply ingrained beliefs in American culture. Few of us would
argue the merits of democracy as the best way to run a government; many top business
schools require incoming MBAs to join teams of people with whom they work
through their entire course of study; our criminal justice system relies on a
jury of peers deliberating and arriving at a unanimous decision; and in
corporate America… well, you know.
Most of us wholeheartedly believe that
the best results arise when we get together as a team, receive loads of input, and reach a consensus. However, very often groups spend hours coming up with long lists of possibilities, follow wild tangents, lose sight of the end goal and can’t reach consensus - or even if they do, those who didn’t
agree with the decision may undermine its implementation. Not to mention those situations in which groups arrive at bad decisions (i.e., "Groupthink".)
Next time you need a great brainstorming meeting, contact us. I'll make it effective and fun with my own tried-and-true brainstorming procedure. Download my "Breakthrough Brainstorming Guide" to see how we do it, or if you'd like us to instead train your organization in running your own Breakthrough Brainstorming Sessions, we can do that too.
We can incorporate Breakthrough Brainstorming into any of our other programs, or run it as a standalone session. Below are some of the programs it can be paired with.
